Why The “Buy Now” Button is Bad

You have attracted the traffic to your website, you have gotten them to the call to action section.
Now you want them to buy whatever it is you are selling.
The obvious and most common way is to have a button or a link that merely says “Buy Now”!
However, in many cases (and you should always test), this is going to drive people away right at the last moment. Research has shown that people respond better if you use softer words such as “buy” or “order”.
So here are some alternatives I encourage you to test instead of “buy now”
- “Own it now”
- “Try it now”
- “Send it to me”
- “Download it now”
- “Yes, I want it!”
- “Claim it now”
- “Reserve your copy now!”
One other thought, some shopping carts default to the phrase “Submit Order”. People don’t like this phrase, so again try, and use something softer.
Try these or any other’s you can think of and I am sure you will notice a better response.
